Sanchia Alasia is the former mayor for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. An award winning specialist in equality diversity and Human Resource she currently works at Brunel University as their equality and diversity manager. She was first elected to the the Council in 2010 and was the first of three Black women to be elected there. She has held a number of positions – School Governor, chair of the health and adult services scrutiny committee and chair of the planning committee.
Sanchia was one of the Labour Party candidates for the European elections in 2014 in the London region and is a candidate again in the 2019 European elections. Following the european elections in 2014, she was appointed by the then Prime Minister, David Cameron to be a member of the European Union, Committee of the regions. She was elected the deputy leader of the UK delegation in 2017. This is a forum where she speaks up for local government in Europe. She is also the gender equality representative for the Party of European Socialists.It is interesting to note that in 2010 when she was first elected, she became the youngest woman on the Council and with her colleagues achieved over a 7% Labour swing from the British National Party, as they had reached out to a wider community.
She has a BSc in politics and sociology and an MSc in politics, policy and government. Sanchia is a well sought after speaker and has spoken at the World Diversity leadership summit and the European Diversity Business Congress, as well as conferences and forums across Europe. As well as being an active member of the Labour Party, Cllr Alasia is an active member of the Fabian society, Co-operative Party, Christians on the left, BAME Labour and her trade unions, UNISON and GMB.
Sanchia has won numerous awards including, local government personality of the year at the Dods women in public life awards in 2013, the Grassroots Diplomats awards in the policy driver category for her work in equality and diversity in 2014 and Christian woman in politics at the Wise Women Awards in 2018 and Mayor of the year in 2018. Sanchia took part in the OBV MP shadow scheme in 2006. She shadowed Sadiq Khan and subsequently Diane Abbott.
Si-Fu Julian Hitch is one of the world’s leading masters of the ancient Chinese martial art, Wing Tsun. He’s spent over two decades working in the high performance, self improvement and well-being sectors using Wing Tsun in varied roles.
Julian is co-founder of the high performance and well-being company The Conscious Coach. As Director of Wellbeing for Leon Restaurants, he helped Leon use the wisdoms of the martial art to transform their business performance across the UK, Europe and the US, in a declining market experiencing severe challenges.
Across his career Julian has applied the martial art in numerous other ways – he is a close quarter combat trainer for Special Forces units and close protection personnel. He uses the wisdoms of Wing Tsun to combine executive, life and health coaching. A qualified barrister, he also has his Kwoon (school of martial arts) in London.
Julian’s co-authored the book “Winning Not Fighting”, which was published by Penguin in November 2019 and has been critically acclaimed. He has featured across the press in the likes of Forbes, Daily Telegraph, Sunday Times and throughout TV including Sky, BBC and ITV.

Danny Bluestone is the CEO and Founder of Cyber-Duck, a UK based digital transformation agency fusing user centred design, UX, forward thinking web technology, a culture of R&D and lean processes. The agency was started in 2005 and has grown organically to £3m revenues per year and has the Bank of England, Mitsubishi and Cancer Research as clients. With almost 50 staff, 45% of staff are from all corners of the earth, Cyber-Duck is a very diverse agency.
Danny has been recognised by the BIMA Hot 100, the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards entrepreneur of the year, and Wirehive 100’s Digital Leader of the Year.
Danny spoke at SXSW in Austin Texas about trust in digital and what brands and governments to build trust through their products and services. He also is a keen advocate of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data transformation and why ethics in AI is so important.
DR Susan Kahn CPsychol
Susan is a practitioner and an academic. She is a Business Psychologist, MA, MSC, PHD, PPABP. Susan works as a coach, consultant, mediator and an observer of working life. She has a particular interest in the behaviour of people at work and below the surface dynamics in organisations. As a coach she works together with individuals and their organisations to help clients to develop and enhance their authentic leadership style. As a mediator she is skilled in improving working relationships and developing common understanding between parties in toxic relationships.
In addition to her private clients she is the Programme Director for Coaching at Birkbeck, University of London, teaching coaching and organizational psychology. She is a faculty member at the School of Life, working with businesses to develop their emotional intelligence. She also works as a group relations consultant, including equine coaching. Her research interests embrace leadership, change and vulnerability at work.
Her book, Death & the City, published by Karnac, uses psychoanalysis to explore organisational endings. Her latest publication, Bounce Back: how to fail fast and be resilient at work is published by Kogan Page, examines resilience in the workplace.
Lisa Seagroatt is the Founder and Managing Director of HR Fit for Purpose. Lisa experienced a mental health breakdown in 2015 caused by bullying in the workplace. As a direct consequence of this enforced change in her career, she then set up her own business and helps business leaders to create a healthy workplace culture by looking after their employees.
Lisa is passionate about developing and helping people reach their full potential in the workplace as well as challenging unhealthy HR workplace practices, exposing how poor leadership and management creates a culture of fear, sickness absence and a high turnover of people leading to poor profitability and productivity.
HR Fit for Purpose launched on World Mental Health Day in May 2017 and having previously received support from Enterprise Enfield’s Inspiring Women Programme, Lisa was ultimately selected to receive further support from their Female Founders Accelerator Programme funded by the JP Morgan Foundation. She now acts as an Ambassador and HR Business Advisor for Enterprise Enfield, encouraging other women to reach their full potential in business whilst assisting them with creating a culture of high performance by recruiting the ‘right people into the right places’.
A Lecturer in the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Diploma qualification in HR Management, Lisa is part of the LEAN East network of HR practitioners currently volunteering as Enterprise Advisers in local secondary schools with Year 10 students. She is a Board member and Ambassador for Conduct Coaching and has just completed her book, which is a workplace comedy based on poor workplace culture and her mental health experience.
John is the Co-Founder of Obliquity, a purpose driven consultancy based in London and Seattle that helps businesses to improve their corporate social responsibility performance.
Previously he was Group Head of Sustainability at Pret A Manger, and was responsible for the strategy and implementation of sustainability targets for the UK and all international markets. Before working in sustainability John’s previous background was in operations across a number of retail sectors. A Geography Graduate from St David’s University College, he has a keen interest in all things outdoors and a desire to see people re-connect with the food and drinks they consume and the farm systems that produce them. He completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Business (Cohort 17) in 2015 and has attended two Leadership Labs and hopes to undertake the Master of Studies sometime soon.
Technology Recruitment Expert
David Savage is Associate director in Harvey Nash’s London Technology Recruitment business. David started his career as a technology recruiter, and spent a decade exploring the role people play in shaping the sector.
3 years’ ago he felt that there was a lack of content available for leaders in the space, nothing explored the challenges they face without adding an instagram gloss to events. So David launched Tech Talks, a podcast offering honest insight and a community leaders could tap into.
Tech Talks is now a regular member of the Apple Podcast top 50 tech podcast chart, attracting thousands of listeners each month from a diverse community of tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs. The series also led to David being named Computing Magazine’s Digital Ambassador of the Year 2018.
He has a passion for tech, sci-fi, Newcastle United and truly awful films.
Disability and Inclusion Expert
Barry Ginley is the Director of Tamstone Consulting Ltd, specialists in disability and inclusion. Barry studied at the University of Reading, gaining an MSc in Inclusive Environments Design and Management in 2005; and in September 2017, Barry graduated with an Executive MBA from Henley Business School, being the first blind person to gain the qualification.
Barry has recently been selected by the Cabinet Office to Chair the South East Regional Stakeholder Group on disability; he is the Deputy-Chair of the Conservative Disability Group; a member of the Built Environment Access Panel for the London Legacy Development Corporation; former advisor to the UK governments Paralympic Legacy Advisory Group; and sits on the board of the Global Disability Innovation Hub.
Elizabeth or ‘Buna’ to her industry friends, is a popular and respected media executive with years of experience gained in commercial, operational and management roles in the TV and digital advertising industry across the UK and Africa. She has super strong commercial credentials approaching all her endeavours through an entrepreneurial lens supported by grounded lateral thinking and a huge laugh. She’s passionate about the need for diversity and inclusion in the media industry and currently mentors for Creative Access.
Having worked at big broadcasters such as Viacom, Sky Media, Turner & A+E Networks she has built up a reputation of being a tough and accomplished negotiator while still doing so with creative vision and a smile. She has delivered high value commercial solutions growing business across TV partnerships, digital, social & branded content. Elizabeth has spear headed inventive partnerships for a variety of clients from Masterfoods and Fox to ad-funded programmes for NFL, Nike and Adidas and has extensive kids market expertise. Elizabeth applied her entrepreneurial desire as Sales Director for GTV – an African Broadcaster of premiership footballwhere she set up a commercial department and is now Cofounder of Sixteenbynine – a TV and video centred media planning, buying and production agency backed by Goodstuff. She has recently helped develop the strategy and creative campaign for new to TV Jules Verne Travel.
Georgia Elliott smith
Georgia is the Director of Element 4 group Ltd creating powerful strategies for more sustainable business.
Georgia studied Environmental Engineering at the University of Portsmouth and has been improving environmental best practices ever since.
As well as being a WELL Building Standard Accredited professional and Fitwel Ambassador, Georgia founded the YEP (Young Entrepreneurs in Property) in 2002, which is a networking and career development group for entrepreneurial young professionals in the property and construction industry.
Georgia was the original Sustainability Manager on the development of New Street Square in Central London for LandSec – a development of around a million square feet.
